Having a garburator in your kitchen cuts down on cooking preparation and waste, but the device has its limits.
When you have Lewis MacLean install your new garburator, make sure to follow the list of things you SHOULD NOT do with it.

Don’t grind glass, plastic, metal, cigarette butts, paper or anything combustible.
Don’t pour grease, oil or fat or these materials will clog.
Don’t grind fibrous materials such as corn husks, celery stalks or onion skins or risk them tangling the motor.
Don’t turn off the motor or water until the job is done. Let the water run after turning off the motor to flush away particles.
Don’t grind too many potato peelings because the starch will turn into a thick paste.
Don’t put too much down the garburator at one time.
Don’t put in expandable foods such as pasta or rice.
Don’t grind large animal bones.
